Some people never had their home cleaned by a cleaning service individual/company and they ask us: what is a free estimate?
in order for a cleaning service to provide you with a precise cost of the cleaning, a quick visit is necessary to your home. This visit is commonly called "free estimate". It generally takes 5-10 minutes. At that time, cleaners will answers questions as:
- How much will it cost for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleaning. The higher the frequency, the lower the price. If your house is kept reasonably clean, the cost has to come down. If you compare which is more important to determine the quote: square footage of the house or how clean a house is kept week to week, the answer is always how clean you keep your home week to week. An example: A xxxx sq ft house may cost much more than a xxxx sq ft one. If the xxxx sq ft is left a mess every week, the quote should be higher.
Other determining factors: do you have small ornaments? Do you have pets? The house cleaner should be flexible enough to explain these determining factors to you. You may be able to negotiate a very good price if you know all those factors.
 
- Are you insured? This is so important. If you hire an insured house cleaner you may find out the importance the hard way.
 
 - How long have you been cleaning? This is so important. Some inexperienced cleaners can destroy your expensive floors and furniture if they don't know what they are doing. We've heard beginners tell us horror stories along the years.
 
 - Do you have at least 3 solid references that you can provide me? When checking the references, ask specific questions. Don't simply say: "tell me about so and so". If the references are not real, they will not know how to answer or will be very hesitant.
 
 - Do you have a cell that I can reach you in case I need to talk to you right away? Most house cleaners will not give their cell phones to clients. Why? They don't want to be bothered. The only phone they will give you is a home/office number. Probably you will only be able to talk to them during the evening, if so. We are not like that. Communication is very important to us and our clients will have at least two mobile numbers available ((800) 836-xxxx and (617) 273-xxxx) to contact us at all times.
- What type of cleaning products do you use? Ask a house cleaner what do they use on floors, furniture, bathroom surfaces. If they don't know the right answers, you may be hiring a trouble.
 
IMPORTANT. Please also read this.
Try hiring a big cleaning chain company. They will generally charge you $60/hour for 3 cleaners. In the end, they will take at least 6 hours to complete the job and your final bill will be at least $360 and your worst of all, you will be under a contract. On the other hand, try hiring an amateur (beginner) uninsured cleaner, you may run into bigger problems. Someone who doesn't know how to clean properly may ruin your floors, furniture, etc. We've heard of amateurs using Pine-Sol® in hardwood floors for years. Just read their website: http://www.pinesol.com/faq.shtml and you will see that they do NOT recommend that practice. No wonder why some floors and furniture get ruined overtime.

We are experienced cleaners, we know the pros and cons of cleaning any household item in several different ways. We are fully insured.
