This is a recently acquired storage unit containing a vast archive and many personal effects of late Malcolm "Shorty" Jarvis, a well known and self accomplished Jazz Trumpeter as well as the close personal friend to known 60's Black Activist Malcolm X.. otherwise known by his real name (Malcolm Little)
Malcolm "Shorty" Jarvis was the last known living close friend and confident of Malcolm X. in the film "Malcolm X," Spike Lee considered "Shorty" one of the most important figures: Lee Personally opted to portray the part of Shorty" In the film.
Before his death at age 75 in xxxx Shorty Jarvis was a professional musician, but was the inseparable friend of Malcolm X from the age of 13 until Malcolm's death years later. they lived together, partied together, and served time together for crimes they committed.
It was during their 5 1/2 year stint in the Massachusetts State Prison that they avidly studied religion and philosophy, which ultimately led to Malcolm X's conversion to Islamic religion, Although "Shorty" Himself did not relinquish his Christian beliefs, the deep friendship he shared with Malcolm X remained unaffected.
As the last surviving close friend of Malcolm X, "Shorty" Jarvis was a living history of the man whose life had served as a beacon to people of all ages, race, creed and color.
