For sale is one pair of JBL xxxx speakers plus one Audio Research EC-21 tube active crossover.

I am selling these for an retired elder friend who had this system for years in his former home but he sold the house and had them in storage at my garage for the last year. He is the second owner of these speakers. This is a bi-amp system that requires active crossover set at 250Hz crossover point. The original JBL crossover is NOT included when he first got the system. It was replaced with a superior Audio Research EC-21 tube crossover that includes three 12AX7 tubes.
There are FIVE drivers per speaker/channel, all AlNiCo magnets:
1 x xxxxA 15" woofer
1 x xxxxA 15" woofer
1 x xxxxA 10" mid-bass
1 x xxxx 2" throat compression driver
1 x xxxx slot tweeter
1 x xxxx round metal horn
1 x xxxx acoustic lens
Due to inconsistent temperatures in the garage over the year, the surrounds of all four woofers have been deteriorated with ripped seams--check pictures. Cones are in fine condition. Expect expense to renew surrounds but well worth it for speaker of such caliber.
I was told the internal wires have been replaced with Monster cables for better sound. All drivers are from original speakers. Woofers have been reconed years ago and look to be in good condition--check pictures. I still have three original boxes for the woofers.
The sound of this system is amazing. I was able to listen to the whole thing when it was set up in a bi-amp system. The bass was driven by a Krell KSA-100 amp and the treble was driven by an ARC D79 tube amp. The sound was glorious, lush midrange, powerful dynamic bass (double 15" woofers, what do expect!!), sweet extended high. Panoramic soundstage and cinematic presentation just like the best in horn speakers. If you haven't heard a horn system with double woofers, you haven't lived! I wish I have the money to buy this system from my friend but finance and space prevent me from doing it. If you have the dough and space, don't miss the chance to own of the best. Add in a little tender loving care and match them with the best amplification, you won't want another system!
