Responsibilities Pearson Education--the developer of the Mastering series, an online homework and tutoring system for physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology, microbiology, anatomy & physiology, environmental science, engineering, geology, geography, and genetics--is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with exceptional organization skills to assist in the development of chemistry content for our sophisticated system. The Mastering program administers problems with a rich structure of hints and sub-problems and collects extensive data on how students learn as they work through each problem. This position will help spread the vision that electronic tutorial-style homework improves on traditional hand-written homework in assessing student skills and can free up teaching resources for more individual student contact. The successful candidate will - Serve as a member of the chemistry content development team for Pearson's Mastering online homework and tutorial system. - Assist the content team lead and the editorial team in development of content plans for specific books. - Help to define, implement and document pedagogy standards and to create problem templates for other authors to follow. - Ensure pedagogical and technical consistency with the other disciplines. - Maintain and update chemistry content development documentation and vendor contracts. - Assist in selecting, training, and supporting content writers in their use of the Mastering authoring environment. - Coordinate and track the development of the tutorials. - Review tutorials and activities for consistency, pedagogy and quality, and provide feedback and direction. - Analyze and interpret data on existing content to make recommendations for revisions and future content development. - Document and share outstanding content examples with the other disciplines. Qualifications FORMAL EDUCATION: MS (or higher) in Chemistry RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE Some experience in educational content development a plus!
