Purpose Statement
The Buyer/Planner II position will perform procurement and supplier management activities for assigned direct and indirect materials and services, ensuring the highest levels of customer service while meeting Cost and Quality objectives. Work with Demand and Production Planners, Production, Warehouse, Engineering and Supplier Quality personnel to ensure appropriate procurement and movement of materials and services. The Buyer/Planner II is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirement of internal and external customers in accordance to our quality polices.
Key Responsibilities
: Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, creates and administers purchase orders, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records of material procurement.
: Understands and communicates component specifications to suppliers.
: Develops and enhances relationships with strategic supplier/partners. Serves as primary contact and fosters positive and mutually beneficial relationship with suppliers.
: Coordinates early supplier involvement in product development.
: Ensures that Confidentiality Agreements and necessary contracts are established with suppliers.
: Conducts supplier audits by visiting their facility, observing task performance and reviewing procedures to evaluate their capabilities
: Monitors delivery schedules and keeps informed of any problems/delays caused by suppliers. Communicates the impacts/constraints to Site Management, Planners and Production personnel
: Evaluates supplier quality and delivery performance. Participates in AVL reviews.
: Collaborates with Strategic Sourcing, Corporate Purchasing and other BSC sites in developing and implementing sourcing strategies and to support global supplier evaluation and selection as well as VIP creation
: Drives cost savings and quality improvement projects.
: Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
:
Bachelors Degree preferred, with a minimum of 3:5 years procurement experience.
:
Proven Sourcing abilities, contract negotiations and RFP/RFQ experience
:
Supplier audit experience preferred
:
Strong PC skills, including Excel and Power Point. Experience with Access a plus
:
SAP knowledge strongly preferred
: Strong Analytical skills with ability to structure and perform data analysis
:
Articulate and professional when dealing with both internal and external customers
: Excellent communication and relationship management skills
: Strong Organization skills to work multiple issues in parallel over time

: Strong work ethic with attention to details and desire to produce accurate work outputs.
