Position Title: Community Engagement Officer Department: Lena Park CDC
Classification: Full Time
Reporting Relationship Position Reports To: Community Engagement Manager Positions Supervised: Volunteers
Position Purpose: The Lena Park Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for overall performance in developing relationships with families from the Lena Park community, connecting residents to social service providers, and to support resident community engagement. The Community Engagement Officer will work closely with the property management team to positively affect tenant stability, insure quality opportunities for residents to enhance their income and assets; and also provide opportunities in leadership development for community residents. Additionally, The Community Engagement Officer will also provide financial coaching and resolution to the residents.
Responsibilities
Identify community resources and build collaborative relationships with community agencies
Work closely with the property management company to ensure residence stability
Asses families and work with families to identify resources needed
Screen and enroll residents in benefits as needed
Provide financial coaching to families identified
Plan community events
Represent Lena Park at community meetings
Collect all required community engagement data and input in databases
Assist in writing reports
Participate in team and community meeting
Support youth council
Foster residents? leadership skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s degree in a related field; Or two to three years of resident resource coordination, community organizing, community planning and or community relations experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
A driver?s license and access to a vehicle
REQUIRED EXPERIENCEKNOWLEDGE:
Community Organizing
Knowledge of population served and issues related to the community
Ability to work with diverse populations
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Able to build and cultivate relationships
Be creative, innovative and self-motivated
Able to work independently as well as with a team
Solution Oriented
Organized, able to set priorities, problem solve and make recommendations when needed
Represent Lena Park, with other organizations and other stakeholders
Required to work weekends and evenings as needed
Other duties as requested and assigned by the Community Engagement Manager, Family Resource Manager and Executive Director
Proficiencies in computer usage and instruction of: Word processing
Databases
Spreadsheets
Email
Internet
Microsoft Office
WORKING CONDITIONS:
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
The ability to lift 15 lbs.
