EDC is committed to diversity in the workplace. The HHD Division in the HHD Technology Team has an opening for a Technology Associate (II), reporting to the Operations Director, in Waltham, MA. The Technology Associate (II), works with the HHD Technology Team, project directors, and clients to initiate, build and maintain complex, high-visibility technological tools, websites, and online training courses. HHD is dedicated to promoting human development across the life cycle. Our work ranges from health promotion and prevention to early intervention and care. By applying public health and social science strategies, we encourage behaviors and create environments that promote health and prevent disease and injury. The research we conduct and programs we develop support all kinds of organizations. We work at the national, state, and local levels with government agencies, schools and universities, community organizations, hospitals and clinics, law enforcement, and the workplace. To solve complex problems and provide a coordinated response, we also facilitate collaboration among public health, health care, mental health, education, juvenile justice, and social service agencies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. Operating independently with minimal direction on one or more large, complex projects, the Technology Associate (II) consults with clients or project teams to build complex technological tools, models, materials, products, or applications, through • Researching and problem-solving • Evaluating needs and goals • Coordinating and overseeing strategies • Drafting, revising, and web adapting • Overseeing product design, demonstration, promotion, and monitoring • Documenting & cataloguing • Disseminating information & materials • Learning about &/or implementing appropriate new technologies • Applying seasoned understanding of multi-media platforms and accessibility techniques • Assisting with a variety of business development activities, including marketing &/or technology content for proposals and budget development • Applying an understanding of multi-media platforms and accessibility techniques such as 508 compliance The Technology Associate (II) • Collaborates with subject matter experts, administrators or others to integrate specific content into technology-based products and to deal with technology-related questions • Serves as a technological consultant to projects • Coordinates publishing, production, or technology-development efforts with outside vendors • Facilitates project teamwork and feedback exchanges • Collaborates on troubleshooting complex technology coordination problems, proposing initiatives and recommending solutions • Coordinates quality adherence • Trains, supervises, and provides guidance or administrative direction to less experienced staff; may coordinate work of less experienced staff • Designs, facilitates, &/or manages on-line courses • May identify Center or project needs for technology professional development • May coordinate technology use and planning for the Division; may serve as Divisional liaison to the EDC IT team • Communicates with team daily through the Agile Scrum process QUALIFICATIONS This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills.
