TranSystems Boston office seeks a highly motivated individual who is looking for career growth opportunities to help lead our Rail and Transit Practice. We are seeking a candidate with 12+ years of experience with a focus on freight and/or passenger rail design and a strong understanding of MBTA and MassDOT Rail and Transit procedures and standards. This individual will be called on to work with our office leadership to help identify and secure new work with the relevant agencies. This individual will also be called on to work closely with other teams throughout the country on large scale freight and passenger rail design projects. This position provides an opportunity to take on a key leadership role in our dynamic and growing office and to work with a talented and highly motivated group of designers and planners.
Summary:
: Designs and directs components of freight railroad, passenger rail, and commuter rail projects.
: Ability to identify and secure new work with transit and rail agencies in New England.
: Knowledge of track layout and operations, site development, and utilities.
: Ability to coordinate with multidiscipline plus private and public agencies.
: Knowledge of railroad design requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
: Bachelors degree in Civil/Rail engineering field.
: Minimum 12 years of civil and rail design experience with freight and commuter rail experience.
: Microsoft Excel and Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD/Civil 3D; MicroStation/GeoPak and/or InRoads.
: Approximately 10 travel.
: Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is required.
General Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
: Responsible for overall supervision and quality of those projects which are assigned to their team.
: Assures that the project conforms to the contractual agreement the firm has made to the client.
: Assures that the project is completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned.
: Controls project plan by approving design, specifications, plans, and schedules changes.
: Responsible for client satisfaction.
: Assist the Director of Operations and Managing Principals in the implementation of the marketing plan and business development goals established for the office.
: Serves as a technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibility.
: Keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purposes of recommending changes in emphasis of programs or new programs warranted by such developments.
: Provide team leadership. Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians.
: Responsible for finding work for team members in order for team to meet utilization goals.
: Evaluates progress of the staff and results obtained and recommend changes to achieve overall objectives.
: Maintains project staff job results by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
: Mentors other employees.
: Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
: Relays company goals and direction to team members.
: Primary contact for employee problems.
: Initiates and maintains extensive contracts with key people to other organizations.
