Senior Vice President, Real Estate (Harvard Management Company, Inc.; Boston, Massachusetts): Apply your experience as an acquisition/portfolio manager to help manage a $4 billion Real Estate Investment portfolio that includes a hybrid of real estate funds and direct investments, domestic and international. Travel required. Must have strong oral / written communication skills. (Reports to the Managing Director of Real Estate.) Duties: manage current portfolio, including negotiations with current fund managers, asset recommendations and assessment; source and identify direct real estate investment opportunities; provide / oversee due diligence, valuation and market analysis for current and potential new acquisitions; structure and price new investment opportunities, including negotiating terms and employing risk control instruments as applicable; prepare and present investment memoranda for the internal Investment Committee; negotiate, structure and close transactions; interface with investment sales brokers, investment bankers and investors; enhance current market relationships and cultivate new transaction sources; participate in financing activities as required; and, manage responsibilities pertaining to business continuity preparedness, documentation, disaster recovery, site visits, etc.
Minimum requirements are: MBA (or equivalent degree) plus 6 years of experience, either in the position offered or in a relevant role managing international and domestic real estate investments.
Must have: Demonstrable hybrid experience developing both indirect and direct international and domestic real estate investments, including fluency in interpretation and analysis of financial statements, leases, building design and technical specifications and legal documents; proven ability to effectively evaluate the risk / return factors in assessing targets for indirect and direct international real estate investments (e.g., locating viable properties and partners), and strategizing and carrying through on all phases of investment decisions, including due diligence, analysis, negotiations, background/reference checks, and international investment structuring for tax efficiencies and capital repatriation; measurable track record for identifying real estate risk / return opportunities for both value added and distressed properties; must be willing to travel up to 30% - 40% of the time, domestically and internationally; and, proven skills in oral and written communication, working with team members and third parties.
