Job DescriptionThis position will provide both mainly project engineering support for Biogen capital projects, with process engineering input as well.
* Project Engineering: responsible for executing a portfolio of capital projects ranging from small engineering studies to major infrastructure projects of up to 12M. Duties include scope definition, internal customer communication, external engineering/vendor management, construction management, budgeting, reporting, scheduling/sequencing and safety.
* Process Engineering: responsibilities include process engineering support as required to oversee the design, install, commissioning and validation of process equipment and systems operating in a cGMP environment.
Additional responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineer include:
1. Manages all aspects of a portfolio of capital projects (various sizes) including budgets, schedule, engineering (process and non:process), construction, coordination, sustainability and safety. Aligns customer requirements with project goals and assembles and leads cross:functional teams to achieve project goals with respect to functionality, budget, safety, quality, sustainability, and schedule. Interfaces with customers/stakeholders and coordinates/communicates construction impact.
2. Manages and monitors the activities of outside engineering, construction managers and contractors:staff augments working on capital projects. Leads and manages the contractor on:boarding process for project:related staff augments.
3. Provides process engineering services for the execution of capital projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering. Responsibilities include oversight of user requirements definition, generation of equipment system P and IDs, specification and procurement of new and modified equipment and systems, and review and approval of system piping and general arrangement drawings
4. Assists with external staffing, strategy development, prioritization, and feasibility level budgeting and scheduling for site capital planning and execution
5. Participates in equipment and system start:up and commissioning activities, from generation of system commissioning plans through turnover of systems to Manufacturing Engineering for subsequent validation activities. Supervises internal and external resources during all phases of commissioning execution. Manages Validation resources in collaboration with Biogen's internal validation group
6. Provides construction and engineering support. Typical work includes equipment inspections, equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and field verification and revision of equipment and system drawings to as:built status.

Qualifications
* 12:18 years of related industry experience or training or a combination of education, experience and training.
* Knowledge of industry standards and guidelines, such as, ASME BPE, ISPE Baseline Guides, CFR's, OSHA, LEED, IBC, Mass Building Code etc.
* Engineering and project management experience in new facility construction and retrofits of operating biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities with direct experience in engineering, construction, commissioning or validation of capital projects.
* Previous construction or architectural/engineering firm experience with licensed manufacturing facilities in a cGMP environment: experience includes procurement; civil, structural, architectural, and MEP; automation; process equipment, piping, skids and module fabrication; and full project documentation and turnover.
* Full project management skills including: conceptual and detailed estimating and scheduling; cost controls; and reporting; requires demonstrated ability to manage budgets and schedules within project expectations.
