Auto req ID xxxx3BR Business Title Sr. Research Computing Associate School/Unit Faculty of Arts and Sciences Sub-Unit ------------ Location USA - MA - Cambridge Job Function Information Technology Time Status Full-time Department Division of Science/ Research Computing Salary Grade 059 Union 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of FAS Research Computing, will supervise a range of technical projects focused on building, maintaining and using world class high performance technical resources at Harvard. These resources will include large scale computational systems and petascale shared parallel storage to support scientific research across Harvard's Faculty of the Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities include researching new technologies and trends within high performance research computing, directing high performance cluster systems administration and support team members, and managing software development and hardware installations within a scientific research environment. Ensures that current, accurate, and sufficient documentation of systems architecture and processes is maintained. This person will often work closely with faculty and researchers to help move from scientific problems to high performance computational solutions by offering services such as troubleshooting MPI code and optimizing applications for parallel execution. Basic Qualifications Bachelor degree required. Minimum of 5 years in a high performance computing environment. Additional Qualifications Ph.D. in computer science or in the natural or physical sciences strongly preferred.Minimum 5 years experience with numerical methods, parallel algorithms, MPI, Fortran and parallel software development on large scale computational resources. Team lead or management experience in a technical environment is essential. The ideal candidate will have an established background in a natural science field with experience developing, troubleshooting, and supporting systems and software for scientific research. Solid background in programming, specifically in the context of solving scientific problems. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
