Technical Associate Req Number: mit-xxxxxxxx Department: McGovern Institute for Brain Research Location(s): Cambridge MA         FT/PT: Full Time Employment / Payroll Category: SRS (Research) Work Shift:  TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, NEUROSCIENCE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to join the laboratory of Professor Ann Graybiel (http://web.mit.edu/bcs/graybiel-lab), which focuses on learning and cognition and control of action, with relevance to disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, autism, and addictive behaviors. Will be responsible for laboratory techniques in histology, neuroanatomy, and some molecular biology, including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and autoradiography; serve as the laboratory's primary resource for these techniques, taking responsibility for complex tasks without direct supervision; and manage a histology laboratory, including record keeping and organization. Other techniques utilized could include RNA and DNA isolation, PCR and qPCR, Western blots, and laser capture microscopy. REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree; a minimum of five years of experience with standard histology and immunohistochemistry, including frozen tissue sectioning; and in-depth knowledge of and experience with immunohistochemical procedures and immunofluorescent techniques. Ability to perform the other techniques mentioned above is highly favorable. Must also possess excellent organizational and communication skills, exhibit initiative and strong attention to detail, and be capable of flexibility in a fast-paced environment. MIT-xxxxxxxx 9/13/12
