About the Job:
Were looking for top:notch engineers to design and create Akamai's next:generation products for network service providers. This position will work on the core server software of Akamai's LCDN product as well as develop mission critical software for supporting subsystems that enable the platform to run efficiently and without failure under challenging and unpredictable network conditions. About the Team:
Akamai's Network Division is responsible for developing and selling products for network service providers with the dual goal of generating profit and building out the Akamai platform for use by Akamai's other product divisions. These products include Managed Content Delivery Networks (MCDNs) and a whole new line of products, Licensed Content Delivery Networks (LCDNs). Akamai's initiative for Licensed Content Delivery Networks incorporates the strength of Akamai's global distributed computing system packaged into a software product and sold to network service providers either directly, through systems integrators, or via OEM embedding into network nodes sold by network equipment vendors. The LCDN solution interconnects with Akamai's ubiquitous global network to provide advanced capabilities and global content delivery.
Responsibilities:
* As part of the team, collaborate and innovate software solutions to complex and interwoven sets of problems challenging the group.
* Create high performance software.
* Create mission:critical subsystems that enable and support a distributed and intelligent content delivery platform.
* As an individual, expeditiously contribute to designs and develop software that enriches the product feature set while maintaining robustness, scalability and fault:tolerance.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
* Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field and returning to the program after completion of the internship.
* Minimum of 1+ year of C/C++ development experience on Linux/Unix platforms.
* Minimum of 1+ year of experience working in TCP/IP networking, multithreading and server development.
* Minimum of 1+ year working with common Internet protocols (IP, TCP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS, etc).
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with complete development cycles in team environments.
* Experience creating and manipulating scalable and efficient data structures.
* Proficiency with a common scripting language such as Perl or Python.
* Experience developing scalable software for large transactional and/or distributed systems.
* Experience incorporating secure communication and authentication methods.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self motivated and able to make solid independent technical decisions.
* Desire to work in a dynamic, fast:paced, results:oriented team environment.
