Responsibilities
Verizon operates large numbers of Linux based system. Represent Verizon in the Linux open source communities. Contribute new implementations, enhancements and fixes to the open source community. Leverage the large number of Linux deployments to make Linux stronger. Verizon has a primary interest in Linux networking, Linux containers, security features, and Linux kernel and drivers/modules.
Be a Linux expert across many projects at Verizon
Apply emergency fixes as necessary
Take on open source projects to enhance Linux
Work with open source communities to commit code, review code, drive enhancements
Work with data center teams on testing and deployment
Work with Linux distribution
Qualifications
Proficient in Linux internals
History of being an open source contributor
Experience with one of: Linux kernel, networking, device drivers, containers, control groups, namespace, security.
Experience using Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Test Automation
Tools Experience: debuggers, scripting, Git, cross compilers
Ability to provide technical leadership
Ability to work with remote teams
