Principal IoT Systems Architect - Verizon (Waltham, MA) in Boston, Massachusetts For Sale

Responsibilities
This is a technical position within the IoT space, with a focus on Smart Cities and Agricultural Technology (AgTech).
In this role, the lead will work with our product teams, business development teams and sales organization to understand what products and services are needed in the smart cities and AgTech verticasl and to understand where the gaps exist in our current solutions.
In working with the product team, use-cases will be developed and prioritized and then point solutions will be evaluated from a technology and business perspective.
This person will make final recommendations on which solutions Verizon should pursue and will help develop the partnership with 3rd parties, and will hand off the solutions to the integration team.
This person will work the IoT Core architecture team to understand the architecture and design for the IoT core and then will be responsible for picking technologies and solutions (through partnerships) to meet the needs of our customers.
This person will also a technical resource for the systems integration team and pre-sales/strategy team and may be involved in some pre-sales activities and documentation.
This person will also help with the development of custom solutions and will help hand off the solutions to the customer engineering teams.
It’s expected that this person will have a technical background, with experience in IoT and experience in product development and product management.
This person will also track industry trends in the IoT space and participate or track standards in this area.
It’s expected that this person have a good understanding of IoT technology and protocols that can be adapted to build solutions for smart cities.
This person will also be expected to work in a lab environment, building proof of concepts for smart city and AgTech applications.
Qualifications
Work with the development, design/architecture and the business development teams to cooperatively design and develop strategic business initiatives for Verizon in the IoT space , focused on achieving superior business results, while maintaining industry-leading service reliability, with little or no direct supervision.
Assist in interaction with prospective customers and OEMs to identify new opportunities in the IoT/M2M space using new technology from Verizon. Develop use-cases and work through the integration process.
Assist in interaction with suppliers to identify new technologies and product offerings to included user experience, product features, competitive landscape, and scanning of the market for potential new technology partners.
Hands on experience with sensors, gateways and APIs.
Desired Skills/ Experience:
Extensive of Technical experience in a service provider environment or product development environment.
Extensive experience working in the technology industry
Demonstrated passion for building new products and superb customer experiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, superior analytical skills, substantial experience in engineering and design
Independent, self-motivated, and experienced in leading teams, technical and non-technical
Demonstrated knowledge of wireless networks and devices
Experience with technologies in the IoT space.
Experience in managing people and teams
Experience in managing suppliers
