At the end of the day, your work will create scalable platform solutions that will transform lives from home buying to hospital visits. www.pointillist.com Your Role: We’re looking for a front-end programmer who loves immersive user experiences - someone who understands what it takes to make interactive data visualization an exciting and intuitive process of discovery. You don’t need to be a graphic designer, but you do need to know the difference between a good UX and a bad one. We have all sorts of interesting and challenging datasets to bring forward. Our users need to feel like they’ve been looking at this data their whole careers – even if they’ve never thought about data like this before. Your Charge: Build highly interactive user interfaces relying heavily on JavaScript and common libraries like D3 and GoJS Develop proof of concept UI’s to showcase how different components and achieve a visualization target Contribute to the design of engaging user experiences Design asynchronous JSON APIs to maximize performance and flexibility while minimizing complexity Develop java based web services and big data queries following patterns Be a team player. We know how important it is to hunker down, concentrate, and write code. We need people who also want to share that creative energy with their team. Your Experience and Know-How: 3-5 years writing truly impressive, immersive web applications and/or games. Experience designing and building asynchronous APIs a plus Experience working in a team development environment on a medium to large project Demonstrated ability to manage expectations and estimate timelines. Knowledge of common practices version control, collaboration, and task/bug tracking. Intuition for what makes a great UX/UI. Familiarity with Java is a plus. Proficiency with d3 or GoJS is a big plus. Decent graphic design skills and/or some experience in visual arts.
